OML @ Omaha Gives!
For this year’s Omaha Gives day, OML provided the live entertainment for the Omaha Home for Boys fundraising event at Stinson Park.
This year the Omaha Home for Boys put together a dunk tank feature local Omaha celebrities to encourage and bolster support.
Our day’s lineup included Naked Sunday, the 402, 5 Man Trio, Two of a Kind, Thrift Shop. While the weather was not ideal, the support for the Omaha Home for Boys went better than expected. Their goal was to raise $15,000 and they came in at over $19,000!
Leah even braved the elements and got dunked with Kimmylea!
It was encouraging to be apart of this community wide event that aims to improve on all of the programs the home offers. We are grateful to Kimmylea Konsel of Limelight Expressions and the Omaha Home for Boys for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this experience.
How It All Began…OML
Three years ago when I started this business I was told I needed one. Back then I was doing everything I could to get this idea I had up and running, the thought of having “a blog” was literally the last thing I could think about. I truly had no idea how this business would go. People told me it was a good idea but I was facing a black hole with zero expectations. It is crazy to think what has happened, some good things some bad things, but also some amazing learning experiences….
So here I am three years later starting a blog about what I do and Omaha Musicians Live, and to be honest, I am truly excited!!!! I hope our readers enjoy seeing everything. I want this to be a place for several things. I want to introduce readers to events, venues, artists, and bands. This will be my way of being able to communicate to our supporters. I am not one to shy away from criticism so if you have ideas and things you would like to see just let me know. Since I have had a lot of fun over the past three years, I may start by sharing about some things we have done in the past but will be sure to include a lot of what we have to look forward to.
I have always noticed how I switch back and fourth between the words I and WE when talking about my business. I understand that this was my idea and I can take credit for that part. But the truth is I am a part of a very big “WE”. Just this last year I worked with over 70 different musicians and bands. The WE is me and them. My promise to all of them is that I will never forget that I am nothing without them and their amazing talents. I am literally nothing without them. So thank you to all of the amazing artists who have shared your talents and passion with me. You have inspired me more than I will ever be able to put into words. I have an amazing job.
Here is to a new journey, this blog. Here we go!!!!!
